Bouttiaux Anne-Marie

Anne-Marie Bouttiaux, PhD, is Chief Curator and Head of the Ethnography Division of the Royal Museum for Central Africa in Tervuren, Belgium. An anthropologist and art historian, she has conducted extensive field research in West Africa, especially in Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, Mauritania, Niger, and Senegal. She has organized many exhibitions, including Persona; Masks of Africa: Identities Hidden and Revealed (2009); GEO-graphics: A Map of Art Practices in Africa, Past and Present (2010); and Fetish Modernity (2011). She led three major collaborative projects funded by the European Commission: Africa. Museums and Heritages for which Audiences; READ-Me – European Network of Diasporas Associations and Ethnography Museums, and Ethnography Museums and World Cultures intended to launch an International Network of Ethnography Museums (RIME).
